Children’s Choir Christmas Eve Mass

Children’s Choir Christmas Eve Mass

As we prepare for our Christmas Eve Children’s mass this coming Sunday 24th @ 5pm we wanted to give the children access to hearing the songs we are singing on the night so they can practise at home and feel confident and enjoy the evening. There are extra communion hymns as there is often a bigger congregation on the night so we will just sing as many as needed. We are also hoping to put the words up on the screen so everyone can join in as there are quite a few old favourites in there :).

Communion: The Zither Carol (C28)

Girls and boys, leave your toys, make no noise, Kneel at His crib and worship Him.
At your shrine, child divine, we are thine, Our Saviour’s here.

Alleluia the church bells ring, “Alleluia!” the angels sing,
Alleluia from everything. All must draw near.

On that day, far away, Jesus lay, Angels were watching round His head.
Holy Child, mother mild, undefiled, We sing your praise.

Alleluia the church bells ring, “Alleluia!” the angels sing,
Alleluia from everything. Our hearts we raise.

Shepherds came at the fame of your name, Angels their guide to Bethlehem.
In that place, saw your face, filled with grace, Stood at the door.

Alleluia the church bells ring, “Alleluia!” the angels sing,
Alleluia from everything. Love evermore.

Alleluia the church bells ring, “Alleluia!” the angels sing,
Alleluia from everything. Love evermore.

Communion: Away in a manger (C12)

1 Away in a manger, no crib for a bed,
The little Lord Jesus laid down His sweet head;
The stars in the bright sky looked down where He lay,
The little Lord Jesus asleep on the hay.

2 The cattle are lowing, the baby awakes,
But little Lord Jesus, no crying He makes.
I love thee, Lord Jesus, look down from the sky
And stay by my side until morning is nigh.

3 Be near me, Lord Jesus, I ask thee to stay
Close by me forever and love me, I pray;
Bless all the dear children in thy tender care,
And fit us for heaven to live with thee there

Communion: The Little Drummer Boy (C27)

1 Come they told me, pa ra pa pum pum,
A newborn King to see, pa ra pa pum pum,
Our finest gifts we bring, pa ra pa pum pum,
To lay before the King, pa ra pa pum pum,
Ra pa pum pum, ra pa pum pum,
So to honour Him, pa ra pa pum pum,
When we come.

2 Little baby, pa ra pa pum pum,
I am a poor boy too, pa ra pa pum pum,
I have no gift to bring, pa ra pa pum pum,
That’s fit to give the King, pa ra pa pum pum,
Ra pa pum pum, ra pa pum pum,
Shall I play for you, pa ra pa pum pum,
On my drum?

3 Mary nodded, pa ra pa pum pum,
The ox and lamb kept time,
pa ra pa pum pum,
I played my drum for Him, pa ra pa pum pum,
I played my best for Him, pa ra pa pum pum,
Ra pa pum pum, ra pa pum pum,
Then He smiled at me, pa ra pa pum pum,
Me and my drum.

Communion: Marys Boy Child (C22)

1 Long time ago in Bethlehem,
so the Holy Bible say,
Mary’s boy child, Jesus Christ,
was born on Christmas Day.

CHORUS
Hark now, hear the angels sing, A new King born today!
And we may live for evermore Because of Christmas Day.
Trumpets sound and angels sing, Listen to what they say,
That we may live for evermore Because of Christmas Day.

2 While shepherds watch their flocks by night, Them see a bright new shining star.
Them hear a choir sing,
the music seems to come from afar.

3 Now Joseph and his wife Mary
come to Bethlehem that night.
She have no place to bear her child,
not a single room was in sight.

CHORUS

4 By and by they find a little nook
in a stable all forlorn,
And in a manger cold and dark,
Mary’s little boy was born.

5 Long time ago in Bethlehem,
so the Holy Bible say,
Mary’s boy child, Jesus Christ,
was born on Christmas Day.

CHORUS

Yes, we may live for evermore Because of Christmas Day.

Recessional: Go tell it on the mountain (C15)

CHORUS
Go, tell it on the mountain,
Over the hills and everywhere;
Go, tell it on the mountain
That Jesus Christ is born!

1 While shepherds kept their watching
O’er silent flocks by night
Behold throughout the heavens
There shone a holy light. [Chorus]

2 The shepherds feared and trembled
When lo! Above the earth
Rang out the angels’ chorus
That hailed the Saviour’s birth. [Chorus]

3 Down in a lowly manger
The humble Christ was born
And God sent us salvation
That blessed Christmas morn. [Chorus]

Fun Encore: Rudolf the red nosed reindeer (C34)

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer
Had a very shiny nose
And if you ever saw it
You would even say it glows

All of the other reindeer
Used to laugh and call him names
They never let poor Rudolph
Join in any reindeer games

Then one foggy Christmas Eve
Santa came to say
“Rudolph, with your nose so bright
Won’t you guide my sleigh tonight?”

Then how the reindeer loved him
As they shouted out with glee
“Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer
You’ll go down in history”

Good tidings we bring to you and your kin
We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

We wish you a Merry Christmas
We wish you a Merry Christmas
We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year
