Register for First Holy Communion 2023/24 Dear Parents, We are delighted that you have chosen to put your child forward for the Sacraments of First Confession and Holy Communion in 2024. In their religion classes the children will receive the necessary religious instruction. You as parents are the prime educators of your child and as such have an important part to play in preparing them for the Sacraments. You should show an interest in their school religion program and discuss it with them from time to time. You should also encourage and support personal prayer, praying with them regularly. Attendance at Sunday Mass is an essential component of our faith journey and we encourage you to attend the special ‘Family Mass’ each Sunday at 10:30am in Divine Mercy with your child. The diocese has developed a pilot programme called Seeds of Faith which instead creates a central parish team to manage the religious education for the parish schools. Lucan has been chosen as to be part of this first pilot and we will be assisted by a parish catechist Cathy Burke who will help coordinate the establishment of Seeds of Faith. The seeds of faith team will consist of our parish priest Fr. Aidan, Cathy Burke, members of the parish council as well as parents/guardians from each school. This combination of knowledge and talents from all parts of our parish will take pressure off individual school committees and allow us all to support and help each other as we enrich the faith education of children in our parish.
